Che cosa significa sentirsi a casa in una città come Genova? Nel corso di un anno trascorso in città, il fotografo e documentarista olandese Sven Driesen ha raccolto ritratti e conversazioni con persone di età, provenienza e biografie diverse. Ne emerge una costellazione di voci che, lontana da ogni immagine definitiva, restituisce una città capace di entrare nelle vite e trasformarle.

In queste pagine la casa non coincide con un indirizzo, né Genova con la sua geografia. Vicoli, alture, santuari e promontori sul mare diventano paesaggi interiori, luoghi della memoria e dell'identità.

Raccontare una città significa forse proprio questo: sottrarla allo stereotipo e riconsegnarla al tempo vivo delle esistenze.

What does it mean to feel at home in a city like Genoa? Over the course of a year spent in the city, Dutch photographer and documentary filmmaker Sven Driesen collected portraits and conversations with people of different ages, backgrounds, and life stories. What emerges is a constellation of voices that, far from any definitive image, reveals a city capable of entering people’s lives and transforming them.

In these pages, “home” is not simply an address, nor is Genoa defined by its geography. Alleys, hills, shrines, and sea cliffs become inner landscapes—places of memory and identity.

Perhaps this is precisely what it means to tell a city’s story: to free it from stereotypes and return it to the living rhythm of people’s lives.
